The Sioux Falls Canaries would score five first inning runs en route over the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Tuesday winning 13-1 in the first of a three game set at home.
Jordan Barth would hit a three run double in the bottom of the first and Pierre’s Spencer Sarringar would have an RBI single to help get the Canaries a 5-0 lead and then Hunter Clanin would put a stamp on the game with a two run homer to give the Canaries a 9-0 lead at the end of two innings. Clanin hit a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the fourth giving the Birds an 11-0 advantage. Another two runs scored in the bottom of the eighth to cruise to the 13-1 win as Sioux Falls continues to be the best team in the American Association at 33-19. Sarringar would 2-4 for the Canaries raising his batting average to .261. Jabari Henry would go 4-6 to lead the Canaries in its 17 hits in the win.
Sioux Falls will host Gary SouthShore in game two of the series tonight with a 6:35 first pitch from the Bird Cage.
