The Sioux Falls Canaries would win Sunday’s rubber match over the Kane County Cougars at home with a 7-4 victory to claim the series win.
The Canaries would do the damage in the sixth and seventh innings as the Birds scored twice in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead and five times in the seventh to get the win. Mike Hart would hit the two run homer in the sixth to push the Canaries ahead and he would double to give the Birds the final tally as four straight men came to the plate and drove in runs in the seventh. Simon Reid hit a three run homer in the ninth for Kane County, but the Canaries would hold on for the win to improve to a league-best 27-16. Pierre’s Spencer Sarringar would have the day off on Sunday, but would still go 3-6 in the series with a triple and homer while driving in five RBI in the first two games of the series.
Sioux Falls will head to Chicago to play the Dogs starting tonight and running through the Fourth. First pitch is at 6:30.
