The State trap and skeet championships would take place in Aberdeen this past weekend with one varsity member recording a top five finish in trap.
Trap
Jaxon Jungwirth would place tied for fifth in the varsity trap championships with a total score of 97 while Amber Roman would be the highest Pierre finisher in the female competition at seventh place with a total of 87. Baxter Schrempp would get a 96 to tie for eighth.
In the junior varsity 2A trap shooting, Pierre’ Matthew Maritz, Kayden Lichnit and Tug Mikel would all tie for seventh while Emma Oxford on the female side would also tie for seventh. Pierre JV would finish third overall of the JV participating teams.
In Class 1A, Lyman’s Gabe Smith would finish tied for second in the Trap Male High Gun Novice division while Jake Millard would get fifth in the JV Male division. Claire Griffith would be eighth in the JV Female division.
Skeet
For the skeet side of the state championships on the varsity side, Stanley County’s Witt Myers would place tied for seventh with a 91 while Pierre’s Treyson Stout tie for 12th with Stanley County’s Wyatt Mortenson at an 88. Lichnit would get second with an 83 in the Male Novice division for Pierre while Trey Hutchinson would tie for third in the JV Male Division at 84. Kaylee Blauert would win the JV Female Division with an 80 and teammate Megan Rose was third with a 67.
