Six Oahe Lady Capitals and one former Oahe Capital have been selected for the National Camps after trying out at the Northern Plains District Camp.
The six girls will be Ava Lavinger, Elliot Bertsch, Brylee Kafka, Dakota Mcentaffer, Aubrey Stewart and Mallory Lehrkamp. Former Capital, Carter Sanderson is selected for the USA Hockey National 17’s Camp. All seven of these players had to try out at the Northern Plains District Camp and be selected from a group of coaches to advance to the National Camp. It one of the highest amounts of Oahe hockey players to attend the National Camp.
Lavinger and Bertsch, both will be sophomores heading into next hockey season while Mcentaffer will be a seventh grader and Stewart and Lehrkamp will be eighth graders. Brylee Kafka will be a senior. The Capitals finished in fourth place last season as all members were integral part of the success the Caps have had over the last couple of seasons.
Sanderson was drafted by the Muskegon Lumberjacks in the USHL after playing for Sioux Falls Power last season, Northstar Christian Academy his freshman year and being on the varsity Capitals team his eighth grade year.
The Multi-Am Camp is in Angola, Indiana taking place from June 23-June 28.
