PIERRE, (KCCR) — Pierre Players Community Theater is offering the unique opportunity to learn the craft of acting. The group is presenting “Acting Without Anxiety: A Low-Pressure Workshop for Aspiring Actors” on Saturday June 1st. There will be two sessions, one from 10 am to noon and a second from one to three pm, all at the Grand Opera House on Upper Pierre Street. The course is being conducted by J-D Ackman, professor emeritus and Director of Theater at South Dakota State University in Brookings. The workshop will offer a safe and supportive environment to let curious thespians expand hidden acting chops without the pressure of auditions or commitments. The workshop will also introduce the general premises of the audition process to ease any apprehensions. Ackman has been a Jackrabbit staffer since 1993 and oversees S-D-S-U’s Theater program and the Prairie Repertory Theater. There is a 25-dollar fee for the workshop.
