The Pierre Tennis team is in seventh place at the end of the first day of the 2024 state tournament with all nine flights playing into day two.
As doubles began the day, both Lucas Hight and Jacob Leiferman in flight one along with Noah Lueking and Marty Blanchette in flight three would drop its first round matches as Hight and Leiferman had a double bye into the consolation championship. Lueking and Blanchette would win 10-7 in the consolation semifinals in flight three to make the consolation title match. Devin Dodson and Weston Northrup in flight two would get a bye in the first round and then win its quarterfinal matchup 6-4, 6-2, but then would drop a 6-1, 6-2 decision to top seeded Sioux Falls Christian and will play for third place against Aberdeen Roncalli.
In singles flights, Dodson in flight one would win his first match 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals but fall to the two seed and sending him into the fifth place bracket. Hight in flight two dropped his only singles match in the quarterfinals also going into the fifth place bracket. Leiferman in flight three would win in the quarterfinals by default advancing to the state semifinals but fell to the top seed and into the third place match. Northrup would win his quarterfinal match 1-6, 6-3, 10-8 before falling to the top seed in flight four and will play for third place. Brady Lowery in flight five would lose his first match but would win in the consolation semifinals 10-5 and will play for the consolation championship. Lueking in flight six would drop his first round match and have a double bye into the consolation championship.
