The Pierre Governor softball team didn’t have much luck over the weekend going 0-4 on Friday and Saturday in Sioux Falls.
The Governors drop to 2-11 and the losing steak has hit 10 games. Pierre started the weekend nearly beating the Brookings Bobcats. Pierre scored all five of its runs in the top of sixth to tie the game at 5-5, but the Bobcats would win 6-5 with a walk off error. Dakota Valley would win a five innings 14-2 game to end day one. Jefferson started Saturday with an 18-1 win over the Govs scoring 13 runs in the top of the seventh. Pierre would lead Mitchell 5-4 at the end of three innings but the Kernels would take the lead in the fourth and add insurance runs in the sixth and seventh to win 9-7.
The Governors will take on the Harrisburg Tigers at home on Monday. First pitch is at 4:00 from the Riggs Softball Field.
