The Pierre Governor baseball team will have its first doubleheaders of the season this weekend with a trip to Sioux Falls to face Lincoln today and Washington on Saturday.
The Governors split its two games last week with a 13-3 loss to Stevens on Thursday and 11-1 win over Sturgis on Friday. Pierre was solid at the plate throughout the two games, but the pitching had one bad inning on Thursday. The Patriots are coming in at 2-5 on the season. Lincoln played its first South Dakota games on Thursday splitting the doubleheader with Harrisburg.
Meanwhile, the Washington Warriors had not played this year heading into the week. The Warriors are 0-2 with losses to Jefferson Tuesday and O’Gorman on Thursday. Last season the Warriors went 13-10 falling in the Region final against Brandon Valley 13-8. The Warriors are a much different team this year with plenty of kids graduating in 2023.
