PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. The meeting will start in special business as the Commission welcomes officials from Austal U-S-A. Austal is constructing the U-S-S Pierre and are visiting the city today to learn about the ship’s namesake. Commissioners will consider approval of a five item consent calendar before holding a public hearing at 5:45 pm for a temporary malt beverage license for the Lake Sharpe Showdown in late April. The Commission will also consider a request by the Pierre Chamber for the Lake Sharpe Showdown and use of Steamboat Park. Commissioners will consider a request to bid for airport hay leases, a change order for the washbay project and an easement agreement regarding the Governor William Bulow statue, located at Pleasant and Pierre Street. Two plats will be introduced to the Commission before Commissioners consider setting a public hearing on a petition to vacate a portion of Tyler Avenue and alleys Commissioners will present any dialogue to close out the meeting. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm.
