The Oahe Capitals get back to the home ice this weekend as the Capitals boys will host Huron, Brookings and Rushmore while the Lady Capitals will play Mitchell on Saturday.
The Lady Capitals did get to play last weekend even after Saturday’s games were postponed. Oahe lost for just the second time all season dropping a 6-1 decision to Sioux Falls. Today, Oahe is in an important matchup with the Mitchell Marlins who they saw to begin the season. The two teams played to a 4-4 draw which makes the game even more important to pick up two points and the tiebreaker advantage if it comes down to both teams being tied at the end of the season. Currently the Marlins are 6-3-1 while the Caps are 6-2-1.
On the boys side, Oahe has not played since sweeping Sioux Center in a weekend series back on January 6-7. This weekend they get two of the top teams in the state. It starts with a game against Huron tonight who they beat 8-5 in Huron and want to handle business and get a win against the 2-10 All Stars. Then on Saturday the Caps face the undefeated Brookings Rangers who are coming into the weekend at 7-0 with a big game against Sioux Falls West on Friday. On Sunday, Oahe will face a potential 12-1 team in Rushmore. The Thunder play Watertown on the road both Friday and Saturday before stopping at the Expo Center Sunday to face the Capitals. Six points will be enormous for the Capitals, but regardless, Oahe wants to keep rolling this weekend.
All four games this weekend will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call. Friday’s game has puck drop at 8:30 with Saturday’s two games at 1:30 and 7:15 and then Sunday at 4:00.
