PIERRE, (KCCR) — Bond has been set for a Pierre man charged in the death of a Rapid City teenage girl in a Pierre apartment. Hughes County Magistrate Judge Tara Adamski set a $300,000 cash bond for David Shangreaux, who is charged with Second Degree Murder of the death of 17 year old Evie Maxey. Assistant Attorney General Ernest Thompson requested a one-million dollar bond for Shangreaux. Shangreaux told Adamski he couldn’t afford a one-million dollar bond and requested a 50-thousand dollar bond. Shangreaux’s court-appointed attorney Justin Bell requested a personal recognizance bond. If released, Shangreaux must remain in Hughes County if released on bond along with numerous other bond conditions. Bell also requested a preliminary hearing in the case. However, Thompson indicated prosecutors would seek an indictment in the case. Thompson also put social media rumors to rest in tell Adamski that Maxey was not pregnant at the time of her death. The preliminary hearing is set for December 15th. Arraignment is tentatively set mid January. In arguing bond, Thompson indicated additional charges may be filed in the case. Court documents indicate Maxey sustained multiple stab wounds and was found in a bathroom along with a bloody knife.
