(KMIT – Mitchell) In a direct reversal of Wednesday’s actions, the Mitchell Baseball Association Board has terminated the remainder of the Mitchell Post 18 baseball season. The team’s season was suspended last month after allegations of player misconduct surfaced. On Wednesday morning, following a press release from South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley which stated that no one had yet been charged, the board announced that the season would resume immediately. After receiving new information from investigators late Wednesday, the board reversed course and terminated the season. The team last played on June 20th.
All six games missed by Mitchell were listed as forfeits and a 9-0 loss. It has not been determined if the final four games will be forfeits as well. Mitchell was scheduled to play against Brookings Thursday and Sioux Falls West on Monday.
