The Pierre Governor softball team came up on the short end to the Brookings Bobcats on Friday 15-4, a day after earning its first ever victory.
The Governors went down 6-0 in the top of the first as the Bobcats would rattle off 14 hits in the game to storm to the 10-run rule win. Morgan Linstad would hit two home runs in the game going 3-4 with 4 RBIs for Brookings who improved to 5-1 with the win and now 6-1 after Saturday’s win over Rapid City Central. Pierre had just five hits in the game as Jenna Bucholz would score two runs in the game going 1-2 with a triple, the Govs only extra base hit of the day. Tess Burns would strike out 11 in six innings of work for the Bobcats giving up just three walks. Pierre allowed another eight unearned runs in the loss as they drop to 1-6 on the season.
Pierre will face winless Aberdeen Central on Tuesday at home before traveling to Sioux Falls for a weekend full of games on Friday and Saturday.
