The Team South Dakota U16 Boys were defeated on Saturday ending their tournament, short of the quarterfinals with a 5-2 loss to Tri-City Eagles Blue out of Maryland.
After a scoreless first period, Tri-City didn’t waste much time scoring a short handed goal followed by a power play goal early in the second period to take a 2-0 lead. Team SD did strike back with a goal Sioux Falls’ Nathan Renken to make it a 2-1 score at the end of the second. However, three third period goals lifted Tri-City to a 5-1 lead before Rushmore’s Cameron Ritter would make it a 5-2 final scoring on the power play. Team South Dakota went 1-2 in the tournament.
Oahe’s Jarron Beck had one point in the three games, but the one point was the assist in overtime for Team SD’s lone win of the tournament.
