The Pierre Governors are set to begin the season this weekend, if weather allows as they take on the Sturgis Scoopers on Saturday in now its lone games of the weekend.
The Governors were scheduled to play one varsity game tonight in Rapid City against the Stevens Raiders with a doubleheader on Saturday in Sturgis. However, winter weather has already forced the game to be canceled for Friday and puts Saturday’s doubleheader in jeopardy. Pierre will be looking to make a statement to begin the season as it does begin, look for a deep postseason run which eluded them last year, losing in the first round of the playoffs. Sturgis finished at 12-14 also losing in the first round of the playoffs in 2022.
First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 Central Time on Saturday for the doubleheader. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube to watch at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
