PIERRE — The South Dakota House has upheld the only veto so far of this year’s legislative session. Governor Kristi Noem had vetoed House Bill 1109. The measure would have allowed cities and towns to up their occupancy tax to four-percent. Noem called it a tax increase. The vote to uphold the Governor’s veto and kill H-B 1109 was 41 to 29. The vote needed two-thirds majority approval to override the veto.
