Three Pierre Governors would sign their National Letters of Intent to continue their football careers as Christian Busch, Jack Merkwan and Jayden Wiebe all will play football at the University of Sioux Falls next season.
The three had previously verbally committed to Northern State during the fall semester, but as time quickly approached to signing day, all three moved committed to in conference rival Sioux Falls. The Cougars land three players, all part of the All ESD and/or All State teams for 2022. Both Merkwan and Busch received honors on the All ESD teams while all three were selected to the All State teams. Merkwan was named to the All State teams for two straight seasons while both Busch and Wiebe were honorable mentions in 2021.
In his final season, Merkwan became the schools reception, yards and receiving touchdown career leader while also breaking the 11AA state record for receiving yards in a career. Merkwan says he’s excited to jump into their offense…
Wiebe, who was both solid on the defensive side with two interceptions and also a took a kick return 98 yards for a score this season, says the winning tradition is what helped bring him to USF…
