Both the Pierre Governor basketball teams were beat on Thursday against Brandon Valley as the girls would fall at home and the boys on the road.
The Governor boys were beaten on a buzzer beater by Cole Dekker who hit a rebound put back as time expired for a 53-52 win. Dekker had just four points in the game, both shots hitting in the fourth quarter. Lincoln Kienholz would make a layup with 15 seconds left that gave the Govs a one point lead in a back and forth game all night. Jackson Edman led the way for the now 6-3 Govs with 16 points while Brecken Krueger hit four threes and finished with 12 for Pierre. Lukas Morgan had 18 points to lead all scorers for Brandon Valley as they improved to 7-2.
The Governor girls fall to 7-2 on the season with a home lass 75-69 in another back and forth game that came down to the wire. Pierre took a 35-34 lead at the half when Aleise Christopherson hit a 60 foot shot at the buzzer and then Lennix Dupris hit a buzzer beating three to end the third quarter for the Govs. But Hilary Beherns and the Lynx were too much for the Govs on the evening as they improve to 6-4 on the year.
The Governor boys will be on the road on Saturday as they will face the Douglas Patriots in Box Elder. Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 Central Time.
