Governors Finish Second in Mitchell Tournament

The Pierre Governor boys wrestling team placed second in Mitchell falling by just eight points to Sturgis for first place overall.

The Governors scored a 191 on the day while the Scoopers picked up the team title with a 199. Watertown nearly clipped Pierre for second finishing with a 189.5.

The Governors had four different champions on the day as Tristan Spencer in the 138, Jaxon Ducheneaux in the 145, Deegan Houska 160 in the and Josh Rydberg in the 285 all won the title in their weight class while the Governors had another three wrestlers in the championship as Alex Oedekoven in the 113, Chance Carda in the 182 and Elijah Boutchee in the 220 all reached the final round. Gavin Stotts in the 195 placed third for Pierre.
