The Oahe Capital boys varsity team would beat the Sioux Center Storm in both games 7-1 on Saturday and 8-3 on Sunday to improve to 5-1 on the year.
Both games were tied 1-1 but on Saturday the Caps scored the final six goals including four in the second period. All three first line members had four points in the win as Ashton Griese and Barrett Schweitzer each had a goal and three assists while Jarron Beck also had two goals and two assists. Colin Lee had to make just 24 saves in net for the win. Andre Carbonneau, Jonny Lyons and Andrew Coughlin all scored.
On Sunday, the Capitals found themselves down 1-0 midway through the first period although controlling most of the play in the period. It was Coughlin to tie the game at 1-1 just 53 seconds after the Storm scored and also give the Caps a 2-1 lead early in the second period. After Teegan Doelman would tie the game at 2-2, Oahe would punch in three goals over the next two minutes as Beck, Keller Herman and Carbonneau all found the back of the net to give the Caps a 5-2 lead after two periods. In the third, Aiden Dozark picked up a 5-on-3 breakaway goal while short handed as Schweitzer would score to make it 7-2 before Coughlin would net his third goal of the game and fourth of the weekend to give the Caps the 8-3 win. Lee had just eight saves on 11 shots as the Capitals outshot Sioux Center 63-11.
Oahe will face Sioux Falls 2 on Saturday and Sioux Falls 1 on Sunday, both on the road. Puck drop on Saturday is at 6:00 with a 10:15 start Sunday morning. Both games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
