The Howard Wood Dakota Relays took place over the past weekend as teams from across the state of South Dakota and schools from Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska and North Dakota all competed in Sioux Falls
Pierre
The Governors had six top ten finishes over the weekend all coming on the boys side as Canyon Jones in the pole vault had the best finish for any Governor in sixth place while the 4×200 relay team of Cole Peterson, Tucker Putzier, Landon Bertram and Caden Thompson placed seventh. The sprint medley relay team of Putzier, Peterson, Carson Stoeser and Hayden Schaffer came in eighth place as did Jack Merkwan in the 300 meter hurdles, Aaron Campbell in the javelin and Putzier in the 100 meter sprint.
Sully Buttes
Lydia Hill placed fourth in the shot put with a new PR at 39-10 for the Sully Buttes Chargers as the 4×100 team of Tahnie Yellowhawk, Courtnie Weinheimer, Olivia Olson and Stevie Wittler placed eighth for the Chargers.
Stanley County
Cromac Duffy was the only finisher for the Stanley County Buffaloes as he placed 39th in the triple jump.
Lyman
For the Lyman Raiders, Skyler Volmer placed fourth in the high jump, 17th in the long jump and 21st in the triple jump.
Potter County
The Potter County Battlers had a strong showing from the team of Kristie Lake, Rayel Persoon, Dannika Kaup and Emma Schlacter won the 4×100 relay race on the day. Kaup, Lake and Schlachter teamed up with Jadyn Ahlemeier to place second in the 4×800 race. Makaivry Schatz, Taylyn Rausch, Kaup and Schlachter took third in the sprint medley relay race.
Jones County
The 4×200 team for the Jones County Coyotes consisting of Jadyn Jessen, Mallory Valburg, Kendal Kinsley and Emma Hunt placed seventh in the only top ten finish for the Coyotes on the day.
Miller
The Miller Rustlers had two top ten finishes as the team of Tyra Gates, Ally Mullaney, Morgan Kolda and Jaden Werdel finished in third place in the 4×100 relay race while also placing sixth in the 4×200 relay race.
Highmore-Harrold
For the Highmore-Harrold Pirates, Coby Aasby, Tate Hoffman, Peyton McDonnell and Grady Aasby placed tenth in the 4×400 relay race as the Pirates best finish on the day. You can see a full list of all the results below.
