PIERRE — A pair of Willmar, Minnesota residents are arrested Sunday after leading Pierre area law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says an officer was called to the 800 block of North Garfield Avenue for a suspicious person call around 10:30 A-M. The officer located a man and woman behind a business and when the officer made contact, they fled. After a short pursuit the officer lost the vehicle. After a 911 call a short time later, officers found the vehicle again and resumed the pursuit. The vehicle was followed out of Pierre to the east and the chase cut off for safety reasons. A Hughes County deputy around 1:30 pm responded to a suspicious person call on Clark Road. The Deputy located the vehicle in question and again a pursuit took place. The driver hit a Highway Patrol vehicle during the second pursuit. The suspect vehicle rolled on Clark Road and the drive fled on foot. The female, 33 year-old Kaila Voigt, was arrested for Obstructing an Officer, Ingesting a Controlled Substance and False Impersonation to Deceive Law Enforcement. The driver, 29 year-old Damian Hoff, was arrested on charges of False Impersonation, Failure to Obey Traffic Signs, Failure to Drive on the Right Half of Roadway, Speeding, Aggravated Eluding, Reckless Driving and a Stop Sign violation. Walz says speeds exceeded 100 miles an hour during the pursuit.
