PIERRE — The Pierre Police Department is investigating a death in central Pierre. Captain Bryan Walz with the Pierre Police Department says the Department is investigating a death in the 200 block of West Pleasant Drive. Officers were called to the Pierre Inn and Suites for a disturbance call around 3:45 Wednesday morning. An unidentified person was discovered deceased in a residence at the location. Investigators are currently trying to determine a manner of death. Officers could be seen working on the second floor on the south side of the two story building Wednesday morning. Authorities do have a person of interest detained in connection to the investigation. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation and South Dakota Highway Patrol are assisting Pierre Police with the investigation. Walz says more information will be released when available.
