FORT PIERRE — The Stanley County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 2021 Drive Sober or Get Pulled over safe driving awareness campaign during the holiday season. Law enforcement will be working together from December 15th through January 1st with an expanded enforcement effort focused on taking impaired drivers off the road. Sheriff Brad Rathbun says it’s important that drivers act responsibly during the holiday season and that includes not driving while intoxicated. Rathbun suggests designating a sober driver or planning on using public transportation or ride services to travel safely during the holidays if you’ve been drinking. If you think you see an impaired driver while driving yourself you should contact law enforcement and if a friend is intoxicated and preparing to drive, intervene by taking their keys and making arrangements for their safe travel home.
