PIERRE — A food truck preparing to serve up tacos to Pierre’s lunch crowd ended up well done itself. The Pierre Fire Department was called just before noon to the parking lot of Pierre’s old city hall building on Dakota Avenue Wednesday…
Pierre Rescue Captain Brandon McCarthy says authorities are not sure if the fire burned through a propane line or if the brief fire flares were from the propane tanks venting because of pressure building up from heat in the tank. McCarthy says the propane tanks did their job, by releasing gas to reduce pressure and minimizing the risk of a larger explosion. Damage was contained to inside the pickup hauling the food trailer as the rear window was blown out and fire entered the truck. Fire also scorched the exterior of the trailer. Everyone in the trailer evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.
