A small fire five-acre fire started Thursday northeast of the Sherwood Fire. The Fort Pierre team is working overnight shifts on the fire. Currently 289 personnel are working the blaze. According to an operational outlook on the fire, concern remains that the fire might jump fire lines due to dry fuels and wind. If it does so it could endanger homes located south and southeast of the fire lines. One indivdiudal also tested positive for Covid-19. That person is in quarantine. Three other team members have tested negative and are in isolation. Closer to home crews are working two fires in Dewey County near Eagle Butte. The Fuzzy Fire is 1060 acres and burning 42 miles east of Eagle Butte while the Taco Fire has burned 682 acres and is 27 miles southwest of Eagle Butte. The Fuzzy Fire is 15-percent contained while the Taco Fire is 81-percent contained.
