The Pierre Trappers are fighting to get back into the hunt for a playoff spot but Thursday’s game, the first since the All-Star break, didn’t go the way they were hoping. The Mining City Tommyknockers rolled the Trappers for a 10-1 route.
The Tommyknockers opened up the scoring in the bottom of the third thanks to a bases loaded walk and then a wild pitch. The Tommyknockers did its most damage in the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back doubles scoring four runs and another single for a five run inning increasing the lead to 10-0. Andrew Kim scored on a wild pitch in the top of the ninth for the Trappers to score its lone run. Pierre was out hit 10-4 in the loss and are now 5-13 in the second half of the season.
Pierre and Mining City will play over the weekend starting with Friday’s game beginning at 8:05 Central time with first pitch.
