The Pierre Trappers dropped three of four games to the Hastings Sodbusters with a 9-2 loss on Sunday to close out the series.
The Sodbusters scored three unearned runs in the top of the second inning to open a 3-0 lead and that’s all they need as the Trappers were unable come back and tie the game at any point. Hastings was led by Ommar Jackson, the leadoff man in the order, as he had two doubles and four hits and finished the evening with six RBIs. Jakob Newman picked up the loss on the mound going six innings allowing six runs, but only three earned. The Trappers drop to 2-8 in the second half of the season and are at the bottom of the Clark Division while Hastings is now 4-7. Pierre trails the division leader, Sioux Falls by six games ten games into the second half.
Pierre travels out to Minot to face the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs for a quick two game series beginning on Monday. First pitch tonight is at 7:05.
