PIERRE — The Hughes County Commission is meeting tonight at the Hughes County Courthouse. The meeting will begin with a pair of public hearings, one on a rezoning request and the second for an alcoholic beverage licenses ordinance. The Commission will consider appointment of a sheriff to replace retiring Sheriff Darin Johnson and will consider personnel matters. Three planning and zoning matters will come before the Commission. They include final consideration of a plat, a construction progress report and the temporary ordinance regarding issuing permits or licenses for medical cannabis. Commissioners will consider the Royal Ridge Estates road district, a proposal for e-pollbooks, a financial report and electronic door locks for Court Services.
