The Spearfish Sasquatch overcame five errors in the ballgame as they hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to beat the Pierre Trappers 8-7 Monday night in the Trappers first road game of the year.
Pierre falls back under .500 now at 2-3. The Trappers, though, did play a clean game defensively without an error in the ball game. Tyler Skelton continues to swing a hot bat for Pierre as he went 2-4 with two RBI in the loss. Skelton, out of the lead-off spot, drove in both runs on a single in the second inning that tied the game at 3-3. Pierre led 7-6 after the sixth inning and held on until the ninth when the first two men reached for the Sasquatch by two walks, then back to back singles won the game for Spearfish as they improve to 5-1 on the season.
The two teams will end the quick two game set on Tuesday with first pitch at 7:35. After Tuesday’s game, the Trappers will have two off days before playing again on Friday in Sioux Falls.
