PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Ziebach County man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after being convicted of sexual assault. U-S Attorney Alison Ramsdell says 27 year-old Pacer Hayes of Cherry Creek was sentenced last week for Abusive Sexual Contact. Hayes will have to serve five years of supervised release following his release from prison along with a 100-dollar payment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Hays was indicted in February of 2024 on the charge and entered a guilty plea this January. Ramsdell says on November 10th of 2023, Hayes was in Eagle Butte when the victim agreed to give Hayes a ride home from a bar after a night of drinking. Hayes then convinced the victim to allow Hayes to spend the night at her home, because he was locked out of his. Hayes then entered the victim’s bedroom and sexually assaulted her. Hayes also used his phone to document the assault through video and photos. After sentencing by U-S District Judge Eric Schulte, Hayes was turned over to the U-S Marshals Service to begin his sentence.
