PIERRE, (KCCR) — The City of Pierre is marking Arbor Day today. The day itself is Friday, but second grade students in the Pierre and Stanley County Schools will be given trees to plant to learn more about them. Pierre Arbor Board president Adam Kulesa says the annual tree giveaway is partnership with the Izaak Walton League…
Mayor Steve Harding issued a proclamation for Arbor Day, which is a requirement for being a Tree City U-S-A city. Pierre has been a Tree City U-S-A city for 42 years, celebrating it’s 40th anniversary as a Tree City U-S-A city in 2023. Fort Pierre was declared a Tree City U-S-A also in 2023.
