The Sioux Falls Stampede would fall 6-5 in double overtime on Tuesday night as the Waterloo Black Hawks would take the series 3-1 in the Western Conference semifinals.
The Stampede had a 2-0 lead after the first and still led 4-2 after the second period. But Waterloo would strike back to tie the game at 4-4 with seven minutes remaining in the third. Sioux Falls would score with just over five minutes remaining as JJ Monteiro would get his first of the series to lift the Stampede to a 5-4 lead. However, with the goalie pulled and with 59 seconds to go in regulation, Reid Morich tied the game to send it to overtime. In double overtime, just two and a half minutes in, Brendan McMorrow would win the game for the Black Hawks and the series to send Waterloo to face top seeded Lincoln in the Western Conference Finals. Sioux Falls would outshoot the Black Hawks 49-44.
Waterloo and Lincoln will start its best of five Western Conference Final on Friday, in Lincoln.
