PIERRE, (KCCR) — A man from the Crow Creek Indian Reservation has been convicted by a federal jury of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. U-S Attorney Allison Ramsdell says 45 year-old Christopher Spider and a second man, 56 year-old Lance Brunsting of Denver, Colorado were convicted March 27th. Spider, who also goes by the name House was also convicted of witness tampering. The men, along with several others, conspired to distribute hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine in South Dakota. Spider was responsible for distributing approximately 30 pounds of meth alone just on the Crow Creek Reservation. After being indicted by a federal grand jury in August of 2023, Ramsdell says Spider sent a letter to another witness attempting to intimidate the witness into changing her testimony, leading to the witness tampering charge. Ramsdell says Brunsting was responsible for dealing with nearly 100 pounds of meth along with selling nearly 41 pounds of meth in South Dakota and Minnesota. Ramdell says the conspiracy the two were involved in was one of the largest in South Dakota history.
