The Pierre Governor Track and Field team would compete in Brookings on Saturday in the opening meet of the season with an indoor meet. The Govs would grab four wins.
Two of the four wins would come from University of South Dakota commit Kali Ringstmeyer as she would win both the 100 and 200 meter runs. Charlee Williams-Smith would also win the 400 meter run and Emery Larson would grab a 3200 meter victory for the girls side. Larson also placed third in the 1600 meter run. The team of Ringstmeyer, Williams-Smith, Emlyn Swanson and Brooke Hanson would finish second int he 4×100 relay race and Swanson would have two top five finishes in jumps as the freshman was third in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump.
For the Governor boys, Caleb Morris would get a third place finish in the 3200 meter run while Elijah Boutchee had a fifth place finish in the shot put. Overall, the Governors were competing against teams in Iowa and South Dakota which included teams from Class A and AA. The Pierre girls would finish in third place with 67 points while the boys would finish in 18th.
