Due to the cold temperatures and impending weather, the Pierre Governor softball team will not open its season as planned for Tuesday. The game has been postponed.
The Governors were scheduled to open the season against the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles, but instead will play the game at a later date. It now moves opening day to a week later on Tuesday, April 8 when the Governors travel to Mitchell to take on the Kernels. Pierre’s official home opener is now on Thursday, April 10 against the Yankton Gazelles. The Governors have five seniors heading into the season with Gretchen Jungwirth, Noel Kist, Ireland Templeton, Elly Broers and Amber Roman.
