The Lyman Raiders couldn’t match the shear size of the Castlewood Warriors and the top seed showed why they are the number one seed with a 64-38 win over the Raiders on Thursday in the first round of the Class B state tournament.
Castlewood beat Lyman in every quarter with the biggest margin being the third. It was 32-24 at the break, but the Warriors outscored the Raiders by 15, 18-3, and pushed out the lead to be 50-27 heading into the fourth. Four Warriors hit double figures with Luke Baumberger leading the way with 15 points. Jamison Keszler had 13 while 6’9 Byron Laue had 12 and Kamden Keszler had 10. Laue stuck to his average and earned another double-double pulling down 11 rebounds. MJ Diehm was the only Raider to get into double figures as he scored a team high 12 while Cole Kieffer added nine as the Raiders will now turn its attention to the Consolation Championship still looking to finish the state tournament with a winning record.
The Raiders will face fifth seeded Wall in the consolation semifinal today. Tip off is at 12:00 from the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.
