KADOKA, (KCCR) — Traffic in and out of Kadoka will be impacted for the next few months as the South Dakota Department of Transportation begins a project on Highway 73 south of the Jackson County seat. The project started Monday. A number of projects will take place from Kadoka to eight miles south just past the crossing of the White River. Loiseau Construction of Flandreau will start by removing the asphalt surface on the highway on the south end of the project zone. Travelers should expect delays and adjust speeds while driving on dirt surfaces. During wet weather over the course of the project it’s possible Highway 73 will need to be closed until the surface is dry enough to carry traffic. The project will include grading, structure replacement, interim surfacing and new lighting. The 25-point-five million dollar project is projected to be completed by June of 2026.
