
PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Hughes County Sheriff’s office is suspending daily active searches for a missing Blunt man. Hughes County Sheriff Patrick Callahan says search teams have not been able to locate 39 year-old Curtis James. James was reported missing on March 7th. Search parties consisting of deputies, first responders and volunteers have conducted active searches since March 7th. Those efforts included ground, air, canine and water searches in and around Blunt, in central Hughes County. While the active daily searches have come to an end, the investigation into James’ whereabouts continues. Any one with information is encouraged to contact the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office at 605-773-7410 or any local law enforcement. Callahan says they do not believe there is any danger to the public. Assisting the Hughes County Sheriff with the search has been the Blunt Fire Department, Hughes County and Oglala Sioux Tribe Emergency Management, Civil Air Patrol and state Game, Fish and Parks and Division of Criminal Investigation.
