The Oahe Capitals boys varsity team had the game tied 1-1 early in the first period, but the final five goals went to the Brookings Rangers in a 6-1 game Saturday at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre.
Keegan Kitts would tie the game just four and a half minutes into the game as the Caps got its first goal against the Rangers this year and played to a 2-1 game at the end of the first period. Two goals in each of the next two periods and an empty netter would seal the win for the Rangers as they keep pace for a second seed in the state tournament in a couple of weeks. Jaxon Jungwirth made 46 saves on 51 shots in the loss. Oahe falls to 7-13 on the season.
Oahe will finish the season against Sioux Falls West then East on Saturday and Sunday to close the season this weekend. Saturday’s game is at 6:45 and Sunday’s at 12:30. Both games are on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
