Pierre, Sully Buttes and Stanley County would wrestle in the Region tournament on Saturday as area wrestlers would earn the way to the state tournament in Rapid City beginning on Thursday.

Pierre

The Governors will nearly get a full squad at the state tournament this upcoming week as the Governors placed second in the 3A Region. Pierre was led by both Alex Oedekoven and Elijah Boutchee winning their respective weight classes while Gable Uhrig, Walker West, Rowdy Menning and Porter Hunsley all reached the championship match. Bode Minder and Max Hunsley also clinched a spot in the state tournament with a third place finish while Joey Franks, Lincoln Schoenhard, Will Eilers and Kalo Steely all placed fourth with be having 12 of the 14 weight classes represented heading into the state tournament.

Sully Buttes

The Sully Buttes Chargers will have Lucas Yellow Hawk represent the team at the state tournament after his fourth place finish in the 1B tournament. Yellow Hawk would finish 2-2 at the tournament.

Stanley County

Both the girls and the boys would wrestle in the 4B tournament on Saturday. For the girls, Timber Hanson and Kamora Rutherford will each head to the state tournament this upcoming week. The boys will have seven wrestlers make the state tournament led by Hayden Roggow’s 4B tournament win. Witt Myers, Spencer Sargent and Case Kolda all reached the championship match placing second while Jerrick Walker, Landon Bame and Sayth Cronin each placed third to reach the tournament.
