The Oahe Capitals boys and girls hockey teams will close out the home portion of the regular season and for the girls, the regular season in total as the boys host Watertown and Brookings Friday and Saturday and the girls hosting Brookings Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night, the Caps will be in for the game of the season. Oahe needs to beat Watertown to keep their chances of making the state tournament high. Oahe lost to Watertown 3-2 in Watertown in mid-January in a last minute goal against. Tonight, the Caps will have their senior slide for seniors Keegan Kitts, Jessee Elridge, Wyatt Briggs, Camron Lee and Jaxon Jungwirth. Then on Saturday, the Caps will face Brookings who is still jockeying for a two seed in the state tournament. The Caps lost 11-0 to the Rangers a day after losing to Watertown earlier in the year.
The Lady Caps will finish the season against the Rangers this weekend. Oahe can still get the three seed with a sweep this weekend and Aberdeen falling to Sioux Falls. Oahe wants to extract some revenge from early in the season when the Rangers won 6-0 over the Caps in early December. Saturday night’s game is senior night for the Caps as both Sophia Peschong and Brylee Kafka will be honored.
All four games this weekend will be on the air on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports. Tonight’s game has a puck drop at 8:15 with Saturday being a doubleheader with the boys playing first at 4:30 and the girls following. Then on Sunday, the Lady Caps will finish the weekend with an 11:45 puck drop against the Rangers. Jon Winkler will have the call of all four games.
