Area wrestling teams will be in action on Saturday for the Region tournaments to qualify for the state tournament which is less than a week away.
The Pierre Governors will travel to Eagle Butte as Cheyenne-Eagle Butte hosts the Region 3A tournament. Teams of Aberdeen Central, Chamberlain, Huron, Madison, Mitchell and Todd County will join the Braves and Governors on Saturday. The Govs had 13 of 14 possible spots last year and the likes of Gable Uhrig, Walker West, Jacob Mason, Alex Oedekoven, Max Hunsley and Elijah Boutchee back into the state tournament.
The Sully Buttes Chargers will be at Hamlin on Saturday for the Region tournament. Bryson Heuertz was the only Charger to qualify for the state tournament last year, but this year the Chargers will look for several more to join the sophomore who will be fighting to get back to the state tournament.
Stanley County will be in Rapid City for the Region 4B tournament. Stanley County will be looking to get Witt Myers, Spencer Sargent, Hayden Roggow and Colton Brady back to the state tournament again this year. Brady finished fifth in his junior campaign.
The top four in each region will advance to the state tournament starting next week Thursday in Rapid City.
