The Oahe Capitals are down to the final weeks of the season as this weekend the boys will host Rushmore tonight for the lone game of the weekend and the girls will be in Sioux Falls tonight and Saturday.
The Lady Capitals had a big 4-2 win on Sunday over Aberdeen to finish 2-1 against the Cougars on the season. Now, with four games left, the Caps want to knock off undefeated Sioux Falls this weekend to keep pace for a top three seed going into the state tournament. Oahe is 11-6 and will face the undefeated Flyers this weekend. Sioux Falls is 17-0 and all but guaranteed to be the top seed heading into the state tournament. Sioux Falls won 4-0 in Fort Pierre in the first meeting between the two teams.
The boys team will face undefeated Rushmore Thunder tonight. It’s the lone game of the weekend and the Caps have five games remaining in the season. At minimum, Oahe needs two wins, with one begin against Watertown next Friday, to make the state tournament. The challenge is a big one tonight, but the Caps can gain a lot of momentum tonight with a win. Rushmore won the first meeting 13-0 back on November 30.
Tonight it will be a doubleheader in two locations. First the Lady Caps play at 6:15 in Sioux Falls and the boys will play around 8:15. Dylan Simmons will have the call of the girls game on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports. Jon Winkler will the boys game on a separate video on Capital City Rock Sports with 104.5 Capital City Rock joining after the girls game is done. Saturday’s game between the Caps and Flyers will have a 1:00 puck drop on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
