The Oahe Capitals couldn’t stop the Mitchell Marlins in the third period Saturday night on the road as the Marlins would score six goals in the third to win 7-2.
Both Everett Morrison and Keegan Kitts would score in the first period as the game remained tied 1-1 through two periods. But it was three goals in a span of a minute and 10 seconds including a possible goalie interference call which didn’t go the Capitals way and it was 4-1 in a blink of an eye. Mitchell added two more goals to make it 6-1 before Ayden Behm would try and get the Caps back cutting it to 6-2. As the season gets later and desperation becomes higher for the Caps, they pulled the goalie and empty net goal and hat trick from Morrison would seal the win. Jaxon Jungwirth made 35 saves on a total of 41 shots against. Oahe drops to 6-11 on the season.
The Capitals will host the undefeated Rushmore Thunder next Friday with puck drop at 8:15. It will be a part of a doubleheader with the Lady Capitals in Sioux Falls against the Flyers at 6:15. Both games on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
