The Pierre Governors defended home court on Senior Night against the Yankton Gazelles in Girls Basketball action on Friday, and persevered to a 75-34 win.
After being honored in a pre-game ceremony, four of Pierreās Seniors took the floor to start the game, along with the Junior Emery Larson. The game started off as a back-and-forth affair through the first two quarters as Yankton hung with Pierre all the way to the end of the first half. The Gazelles were led by a scoring outburst from Eden Wolfgram, who would end her night with 16 total points to lead the Gazelles when all was said and done.
Pierre went into the locker room up by 9, and came out of the locker room as a completely different team as they dominated Yantkon in the third. The Governors would outscore the Gazelles by nearly 20 points, thanks in large part to several threes from Lennix Dupris, Emery Larson, and Gracelyn Taylor. The Govs never looked back afterwards and cruised their way to a 41 point win.
The Govs had four scorers in double figures with those being Lennix Dupris, Molly Olson, Addison Soma, and Emery Larson. The Governors move to 7-5 and most importantly maintain pace in the race for a SoDak 16 home game.
Pierre will travel to Tea on Saturday for another game. Coverage will begin around 2:40 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
