Pierre Governors Face O’Gorman, Boys Take on Harrisburg for Weekend Games

The Pierre Governor basketball teams will have a tough weekend ahead with the girls playing undefeated O’Gorman on the road while the boys will host both Harrisburg and O’Gorman.

The Governor girls had an excellent defensive game against Aberdeen Central on Tuesday at home in a one point victory. The defense translated into a solid offensive game as well. The same result will be needed against the best team in the state with the Lady Knights. Pierre is 5-4 and back inside the top eight in the standings, but O’Gorman at 11-0, has not won a game by less than double digits. It’s closest game was a 10 point win over Brandon Valley in the first game of the season. But it is the lone game of the weekend for the Governors.

The Governor boys will see two teams above them in the standings as well. Tonight the Govs host Harrisburg. The Tigers are 9-2 and have played a lot of close games so far this season. Of the nine wins, Harrisburg has seen seven of those be within single digits at the final score. O’Gorman is 8-4 on the season but have lost back-to-back games to undefeated Lincoln and then to Roosevelt. OG will not play on Friday before coming to town to face the Governors on Saturday. Pierre, at 4-6, are in 12th place in the AA standings after the win on Tuesday over Aberdeen Central.

Dylan Simmons will have the call of both boys games this weekend as the Govs will host Harrisburg with a 7:00 tip off tonight and then a 3:00 tip off on Saturday against O’Gorman. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
