PIERRE, (KCCR) — A bill to move the designation of U-S Highway 14 from Euclid to Garfield Avenues in Pierre continues to move toward the Governor’s Desk. Senate Bill 39 looks to shift Highway 14 to Highway 14-B or the truck route and create a new highway from state highway 1804 to Sioux Avenue; Highway 1889. Mike Behm, Director of Planning and Engineering for the Department of Transportation testified with the same verbiage as when the bill was before the Senate Transportation Committee. However Representative Brian Mulder had a question for Behm on the bill…
The bill does not address if the designation of U-S Highway 83 will move with Highway 14. The bill was certified for the consent calendar in the House, meaning if it is not removed for discussion, it will move to the Governor for final approval.
