Kafka Hits Milestone 100 Career Goals

Kafka Hits Milestone 100 Career Goals

On Saturday, January 25, Brylee Kafka, a senior for the Oahe Capitals, would score five goals in a 6-5 overtime win against the Aberdeen Cougars. The first one, was career goal 100.

It’s only the third time the Capitals have seen a girl hit 100 career goals and is only the eighth player all-time between boys and girls to reach the milestone. Only Liz Knutson with a 132 goals and Amy Gilkerson with 117 have accomplished the feat for the Lady Capitals. Kafka has been with the girls varsity team since a seventh grader and has increased her goal total every year with the Caps which included 23 in just 14 games last season. Even with another eight games remaining, she still increased her goal total with already 26 in 13 games. It’s hard to put into words the excitement she had when scoring the 100th goal. Kafka says it’s almost a sense of relief…

While the accomplishment is something to really cherish, Kafka says winning the game in overtime made it that much sweeter to celebrate…

Jim Wedin, head coach of the Capitals for the last three seasons says Kafka has worked hard to accomplish this goal…

Kafka is very grateful to hit this milestone…

After the five goals on Saturday, Kafka is 13 goals from tying Gilkerson for second all-time in goals with eight games remaining in the regular season.
