Pierre Girls Win Home Invite Tournament

The Pierre Governor girls wrestling team would get the tournament win on Friday night at home with nearly 40 teams participating in the tournament.

The Governors scored a 161.5 finishing 66.5 points better than second place Spearfish as Pierre had four first place finishers and five in total compete in the championship match of their weight class. Shaylee Speck, Dani Ringstmeyer, Lexie Hillmer and Abbi Lewis would all win their respective weight class championships while Ireland Templeton also placed second for the Governors. Gemma Stangeland also finished in third place for Pierre.

Also in the tournament was both Sully Buttes and Stanley County as the Chargers had a third place finish from Tahnie Yellow Hawk and a fifth place finish Adela Rameriz. Timber Hanson for Stanley County made it to the semifinals, but ended up losing twice and was eliminated.
